sibling saturday [22]

This picture makes me feel nostalgic and futuristic, all at the same time. In other words, I love it.

loyalty :)

Preface: Every night, when I crawl into bed, Roxie joins me. She curls up right against my chest and belly, lays her head on my shoulder, and goes to sleep. By the morning, she’s usually on her back at my ankles where the fan blows on her, but you get the point. She’s close by.

This morning, as Al and I tried to drag ourselves out of the bed, Roxie (as usual) came to crawl all over us as soon as we started talking. She batted at Al’s face, licked my neck, you know — her normal routine.

“She wouldn’t sleep with me when you were gone,” Al said, meaning the night I’d been at the beach.

“She wouldn’t?” I said. “Did you try to get her to?”

“I called her to try to see if she’d come up here,” he said.

“Why wouldn’t she?” I said.

“She was busy,” he said.

“Doing what?” I said.

“Laying on the floor,” he said.

I cracked up.

My furry girl missed me. And she made sure Alex knew it. :)

the sun and the sand.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of my dearest Margaret and her family, I’ve spent the past two days gazing contentedly at the above view. Marg invited me to go to Sandbridge with her family a few weeks ago, to which I responded “Be careful about inviting unemployed people on trips. They will come.”

Luckily for me, she really did want me to come and after a short two-hour drive yesterday morning — there I was.

I didn’t realize how much I needed to be there until I arrived. I knew that I was getting antsy and restless sitting around our apartment all day every day, but I didn’t realize that a less-than-48-hour trip to the beach could cure me of my woes. It was perfect — amazing weather, lovely ladies, gracious (and entertaining) grandparents, delicious food, and ice-cold Corona Lights. Summer days as they should be, yes?

Anyway, I’m back at home for the interviews of the week, and I feel good. I’m refreshed, I’m rested, and I’m ready. Tuesday, bring it on. :)

checking in.

Wedding planning is officially under way. I’m taking a lot of deep breaths already. Mostly in a good way. :)

Two job interviews down, one to go. I’ve got a good feeling!

Life is good lately — I’ve felt engulfed by kindness and love and smiles recently. Also a good feeling.

My rug finally came! The green coupled with the unique patterns warms our living room right up.

Lauryn and I are starting a walking/tea drinking tradition tomorrow. It’s good to be home.

Cheers, lovelies. :)
